He spent 5 years as manager of the club. He brought
the club to UEFA Cup victory in 2003. He also led the team
to three Scottish Premier League titles. Due to personal
reasons he had to leave the club in 2005. Eventually O’Neill
returned to football in the 2006 season as Manager with
Aston Villa.
Before
he went into managing he was a keen footballer, beginning
his career as a fooballer in Kilrea, County Derry. He began
his professional career in 1971 with Distillery FC. Moving
to Nottingham Forest martin stayed at this club for ten
years until 1981. Moving from Nottingham Forest to Norwich
City in 1981 he then joined Manchester City. He also had
seasons with Norwich City again and Nott’s County.
Martin is praised for his football tactics and his ability
to take a club from struggling to successful with some very
strategic plans for both players and coaches. He is a very
well respected manager in the sports industry. We are delighted
to have Martin with us for our conference in July.
