With eight years experience in applied Performance Analysis, Denise Martin had established an
extensive knowledge base across a wide range of sports and employed a variety of analysis software
applications such as Dartfish, Focus X2, SportsCode and Quintic.
Denise worked for over five years in the Sports Institute Northern Ireland where she designed and
delivered the analysis programme for elite athlete development to the Ulster Rugby Academy and across other sports such as Hockey, Athletics, Gaelic, Squash, Bowls and Rowing. |
Since setting up her own business in January 2007, Denise has worked extensively in rugby, as analyst to the Grand Slam winning Ireland U20 Rugby team 2007 and to the Irish team at the U20 Rugby World Cup in 2008. She has continued her GAA work with various clubs and county teams and is currently working with the Dublin Hurling team. Denise has also provided analysis support to various camps including the Irish Olympic Athletics Team warm weather training camp and continues to work on an individual basis with several elite athletes.
She has a proven track record in producing statistical analysis on Gaelic Games, featuring on the BBC’s‘The Championship’ programme delivering half time stats in Gaelic Football and has a regular ‘Monday Stats Box’ in ‘The Irish News’ newspaper.
Denise has delivered numerous presentations and workshops on Performance Analysis in various forums including Coaching Ireland CPD programme, IRFU Level 3 Coaching, National GAA Conference and also lectures at undergraduate degree level. She regularly advises coaches, clubs and governing bodies on planning and establishing analysis provision within their organizations.
After a degree in Biochemistry and qualifying as a teacher, Denise taught in St Malachy’s, Castlewellan for three years before completing an MSc in Sport and Exercise in UUJ in 2002. Her Masters thesis, on the Effectiveness of Performance Analysis Feedback in Gaelic Football, was based on a year with the Derry Senior Football team.
