Martin Zawieja is a former Olympic medallist in weight lifting and German weightlifting coach. Martin was born in Germany in 1963 and 25 years later competed successfully at the Olympic Games in Seoul lifting in the +110kg category. He was also very successful with the world championship games; he appeared as a super heavyweight.

Martin became the national weightlifting coach for Germany as recognition of his achievement and contribution to sport in Germany. Over the years he has coached Olympic and world champion athletes and his success in this sport are unmatched. He has also worked throughout Europe with several sporting organizations helping with strength and power development.

Within Ireland he works with both the IRFU and Setanta College as an external examiner for all strength related courses.

Martin has also published many articles on weightlifting for sport and strengthening techniques. His recent Weight lifting for sport text is shortly to be available in English. We are delighted to welcome Martin back to Ireland for this important Conference.
