Niall Moyna

Prof. Niall Moyna’s is a member of the academic staff in the Faculty of Science and Health at Dublin City University.  He obtained a Masters degree in exercise physiology from Purdue University and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.  He completed a 3 year Post-Doctoral research Fellowship in Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Prior to returning to Ireland in 2000, Niall worked as a Clinical Research Scientist in Nuclear and Preventive Cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre and Hartford Hospital in Connecticut.

Niall has published over 60 research papers in international peer reviewed journals.  His research focuses on molecular genetics and cardiovascular disease.  He is the Director of the DCU Sports Academy, and is a member of Athletics Irelands High Performance Committee, and the GAA’s Medical, Scientific and Welfare Committee, and Research and Development Committee.  Niall has a keen interest in sport, particularly Gaelic football and athletics.  He was manager of the Irish under-17 International Rules team that traveled to Australia in 2006, and managed DCU to their first Sigerson Cup in 2006.  Niall is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.
