Paul qualified from Queens University, Belfast with a Hons Degree in Podiatry in 1995 and since then has completed a Masters Degree (1997) and a PhD (2000) from the University of Ulster, each in the area of foot orthoses and their effect on lower limb kinetics and kinematics.

As manager of the Tyrone senior team Mickey has led them to four Dr McKenna cup titles, two Ulster titles, a national leaguer title and three All-Ireland titles. Harte is well known as one of the most tactical managers in the game today because of his strategic approach to preparation.
