Richelle Flanagan
B.A. (Physiology), MSc Nutrition & Dietetics, PgCert Allergy, MINDI
Richelle worked for 2.5 years in St James’s hospital where she specialised in Coeliac disease and diabetes before setting up her own nutrition consultancy, NutritionWise www.nutritionwise.ie in 2005 providing nutritional clinics to individual clients and consultation to nutrition companies, PR companies and not for profit organisations. |
Richelle presented at the Nutrition &
Peak Performance conference in Croke Park in January 2007
and was a lecturer for the Sports Nutrition Interest Group
of the INDI UpSkills Sports Nutrition Course. She is also
a guest lecturer for the UEFA coaching medical module
for the FAI.
Richelle was co-ordinator of the Sports
Interest Group for the past two years and is a member
of the Weight Management and Diabetes Interest Groups
of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute. She was
also attached to the National Coaching and Training Centre
panel of Sports Dietitians that provide nutritional services
to elite athletes, and is currently applying for membership
of the new panel structure under the Institute of Sport.
She has also worked with sporting professional bodies
in a consultancy capacity.
On a personal, level Richelle represented
Ireland in hockey at schools, universities, U21 and senior
international level giving her direct experience and knowledge
of the pressures and motivational demands of high performance
sport. As a Sports Dietitian, she has worked with both
individual athletes and teams at an amateur and elite
level. Sports she has worked with to date, have included
marathon runners, cyclists, high jumpers, golfers, martial
arts and teams such as Sligo GAA, Kilmacud Crokes, Corinthians
men’s hockey club, the Irish Ladies Cricket team and she
is currently working with Bohemians Football Club.
