Michael Mc Geehin is a currently a Director at Coaching Ireland, the institute dedicated to developing coaching in Ireland. Michael was chosen as a director with Coaching Ireland in April 2007. Mc Geehin was chosen because of his vast experience in coaching. He is also well educated in sports training and coaching as he has a degree in Physical Education from the University of Limerick. He also had a successful career with the army, retiring at the rank of commandment. He is also a master coach with the Ulster Council; his role here is as a tutor. One of Mc Geehin tasks here is to develop and deliver GAA coach education courses.
 
Mc Geehin background in coaching is quite varied; before he started with Coaching Ireland he was involved with the Donegal Sports Partnership. This position with the Donegal Sport Partnership was a different role to what he had previously done as it had mostly been coaching Mc Geehin was involved in.

Previous to this Mc Geehin had been involved with a number of County teams. He had very successful terms with mayo, Fermanagh, Roscommon, Laois and Clare. The most recent team McGeehin has worked with is the Limerick Senior Football team. He is also coach to a Letterkenny side St. Eunans, winners of the Donegal Senior Football Championship in both 2007 and 2008.

Micheal Mc Geehin has spoken at the GAA Games Development Conference 2008, this is a sporting conference that is attended by 700 delegates from Ireland, many areas in Europe and North America. With this vast experience in many areas of sport Mc Geehin has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of coaching and development.
