Robert Kearney

Robert Kearney is a promising young rugby player, who has a vast playing experience. As a Louth native he began his career playing Gaelic football for Louth. While playing for Louth he has with the All Ireland Minor Football Championship. He also began playing rugby for Clongowes Wood College, Co. Kildare. Kearney then went on to attend UCD where he studied arts; he also began playing rugby for UCD. One achievement Kearney received at UCD was with the Under 20’s; he helped them win the Mc Corry Cup beating county rivals Trinity College. Kearney still plays with the UCD side. He is also playing with Leinster, before he joined the senior team he played with the Louth side as a schoolboy and in the Under 19’s team.
 
He showed real talent in the beginning when he debuted for Leinster at a pre-season friendly against Parma, scoring a hat trick of tries. He also made an impressive debut into the Celtic League in 2005, making 32 appearances and scoring 8 tries for the Leinster side throughout the length of the competition. Kearney also showed brilliant potential at the Heineken cup making 10 appearances and scoring a tries.

On the national front Kearney also played for the country as a schoolboy, before he was placed in the senior squad he played for the under 19’s and the A level teams. In 2007 he was a part of the Ireland squad that would be touring Argentina in the summer. Robert was also placed in the 2008 RBS 6 Nations Championship. Kearney scored two tries in this competition one against Scotland the other Against England.

Robert is now playing for UCD, Leinster and Ireland Rugby teams, while studying his Art degree at UCD.
